It’s fun to have a beautiful, clean home where once in a while you call your friends for socializing. But with parties, spills go hand-in-hand. After all, who could resist red wine at a party? However, if it spills on your clothes or carpet, it’s very difficult to remove red wine stains.

If your party is in the total groove, take time to silently blot as much red wine as you may using fresh paper towels. After that, when your last guest leaves the party, tackle these stains with the following steps.

To completely eliminate these stubborn stains, make a baking soda paste. Apply it to the stained area and wait for a few hours. But don’t leave it overnight. Time is the enemy of the stubborn stains. So, just keep it for a few hours.

Let’s find out about the ways to remove red wine stains from the carpet with tips from professional cleaners.

Step 1: Remove red wine stains as early as possible

Blot the damaged area with a clean cloth or white paper towel if the stain is still fresh. A full glass of wine frequently results in a significant spill. In this scenario, we recommend utilizing a large towel and applying even downward pressure to the affected area. Wipe from one side to the other to avoid spreading the stain. Continue to draw up as much wine as possible using dry areas of the towel, folding it twice, and then standing on it. Proceed to the following step when there is no more color transfer from the stain to the towel.

Step 2: White Vinegar Solution

In a mist spray bottle, combine 75 mL white vinegar and 150 mL water. Spray the stain with the solution and blot it with a clean cloth. Repeat this technique as long as the stain is still transferring to the cloth (this is also the first step for an old red-wine stain).

Step 3: Rinse, Blot, Repeat

Mix one cup of lukewarm water and a few drops of non-scented dishwashing detergent. Using a sponge or a spray bottle, apply the rinsing solution to the stain. Repeat the blotting with a cloth or paper towel until no more color transfer occurs. For maximum absorbency, we find it simplest to use a towel and stand on the stain.

Step 4: Eliminate Excess Water and Solutions

Sponge evenly with a heavy amount of fresh water on the stain for rinsing out the remaining vinegar solution. Put heavy pressure via a thick towel for drying the area. Repeat it until the vinegar’s smell is no longer present in the rug or carpet.

For a red wine stain, these procedures are best thought of as “triage” steps. On a fresh wine stain, they’ll be the most effective. Most importantly, this procedure will not set the stain or make it more difficult to remove later with expert cleaning. Call any professional carpet cleaning company if you were not able to completely remove the stain. The expert cleaners can remove almost all red-wine stains because they have specialist materials on hand to handle all types of stains.
